West Derby candidate Ian Byrne shared a message on Facebook about Baroness Michelle More, the founder of underwear range Ultimo, where the Labour hopeful used numerous expletives as he condemned the veteran Tory for betraying her working class roots. The posts, which have since been deleted, also targeted housing minister Esther McVey and Prince William, LBC has revealed. Mr Byrne has issued a statement apologising for the comments.

The Labour candidate said Ms MsVey, who is at risk of losing her Tatton seat, was a “b*****d… and soon to be gone”.

Mr Byrne also attacked Prince William, having called the royal a “horse faced t**t” in 2014.

The Labour hopeful has apologised for the online comments but Jeremy Corbyn has been criticised as he appeared to publicly endorse the candidate at a rally in Manchester.

Mr Bryne stood in the background as the Labour leader said he was “very proud” of party figure, “some of whom are standing behind me”.
