Brexit Britain was handed a huge boost this week after the US’s top security adviser insisted the UK was at the “front of the queue” for a future trade deal. The US national security adviser, John Bolton, also suggested the idea of a “sector-by-sector” deal to try to quickly get a deal over the line in the event of a Brexit no deal. Speaking on talkRADIO, Lord Heseltine clashed with presenter Julia Hartley-Brewer over a potential future trade deal.

The former Tory MP said: “The idea they are going to do deals which are good for Britain at the expense if America is simply naive.”

But, the radio host quickly cut off the former deputy Conservative Party prime minister, branding his approach “naive”.

She said: “But that is a very naive view of negotiations. There are plenty of negotiations that are win-win.

“Just because one side does well, doesn’t mean the other side doesn’t benefit.
