The Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab refused to back down over Brexit, insisting that it was “up to the EU” whether they wanted a deal or not. Mr Raab is on a Brexit trade trip across the Americas, in a bid to prepare deals with the US, Canada and Mexico following the country’s departure from the EU. Speaking in Mexico, Mr Raab said that the British Government wanted to leave the European Union with a deal.

The Tory Cabinet minister told reporters: “If the position from the EU is that the withdrawal agreement can’t be changed – whether it’s add-ons or subtractions – full stop, which is their position today, then let’s face it.

“They will be taking the decision to see the UK leave on no-deal terms, and that’s a responsibility they will have to bear.”

The European Union has repeatedly said the withdrawal agreement negotiated by Theresa May’s administration will not be re-opened.
