Leader of Change UK – The Independent Group, Anna Soubry, told BBC World At One she believed Nigel Farage was responsible for the “wrest to the right” of the Conservative Party. She blasted the Brexit Party leader for failing to represent modern Britain and being “very bad for the country”. But Brexit Party MEP Claire Fox dismissed Ms Soubry’s accusations against her leader and claimed “it doesn’t matter” what she and others think of Mr Farage.

The Change UK MP said: “Nigel Farage, in my opinion, is a force of great ill will and very bad for our country.

“And he is not the face of modern Britain at all in my opinion.

“And the great shame and tragedy is his undue influence, not just over the media – and I understand some of that – by more importantly, over my former party, and that is what concerns me.
