Brexit Party is ‘here to stay’ and will bring ‘big change’ – Express.co.uk poll results

THE Brexit Party is far from being over and its revolution in British politics has just begun, an overwhelming majority of people said in an Express.co.uk poll.

Voters in the poll rubbished the results of the BMG Research survey for The Independent which positioned Nigel Farage’s party behind the Conservatives, Labour and the Lib Dems. The BMG poll, which questioned 1,532 UK adults online between July 2 and 5, suggested the Brexit Party had already started losing support, only weeks after its overwhelming victory at the European elections in May, during which it gained 29 seats in the European Parliament. But those who voted in the Express.co.uk poll disagreed with these findings.

The survey, carried out between July 12 at 3pm and July 13 at 9.15am, asked 11,516 people whether this was really the end for Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party.

As many as 9,730 people answered no, while 1,447 said yes – and 339 said they didn’t know.

Many of the former Tory voters who took part in the survey don’t believe that those who turned to Mr Farage’s party over their disappointment for Theresa May’s handling of Brexit will be lured back to the Conservative Party’s ranks by a Boris Johnson premiership.

One said: “Boris has yet to prove himself to us, time will tell in October, however, Nigel’s word and intentions can be put in the bank.

“I still believe the MPs need a stern lesson in what their role is to the people, Nigel will still get my vote if he puts up.”

Another argued Mr Farage’s party is the only one breaking from traditional movements and able to bring change in Westminster.

They wrote: “After analysing the Tories for the last ten years as well as Labour and the other parties and politics in general and to see what they really think of us then I can’t go back to them even with the best intentions of Boris.

“It’s The Brexit Party all the way, time for big change.”

“The other lying anti-UK scum will never be trusted again.”

Other voters also argued that, despite its name, The Brexit Party is more than just a protest party voted in to breach the Brexit deadlock.

The party, one person said, will manage the “first 10 years” after Brexit.

They said: “The Brexit Party is not only about leaving the rotten EU.

“It’s also about breaking the festering Con-Lab-Lib system once and for all.

“It’s also about managing the first 10 years or so post-Brexit, to make sure it is handled as effectively as possible.

“We’re here to stay.”

Another added: “Brexit is just the start. The Westminster swamp needs to be drained, and anyone who thinks that Bullingdon Boris is the man for that job needs their head examined.”

The Express.co.uk poll came as Mr Farage declared war on “fake polling”, claiming the BMG Research’s survey is part of a “clear establishment attempt to suppress our polling numbers”.

The Brexit Party leader told Express.co.uk: “It is staggering that despite being the biggest political party in the EU, BMG do not include Brexit Party with the other major parties in their polls and instead put us down in the ‘other’ category – alongside the Greens and failed Change UK.

“This looks like a clear establishment attempt to suppress our polling numbers.

“If companies like BMG do not consider winning a national election enough reason to prompt for The Brexit Party in Westminster voting intentions, then we consider all research conducted in this dishonest way to be fake polling.”
