Morning all ☕,
And then there were ten. It’s not quite the whittled down shortlist that some were expecting.
*Sam Gyimah* was the only Tory leadership contender to withdraw from the race last night and has since told BBC Radio 4 that each of the remaining 10 candidates have begged for his support. 🧐
The race is now very much underway and as to be expected, Brexit has become a main focus for each candidate. 👀
*Matt Hancock* has this morning pledged to give MPs a vote on any changes to the current Brexit deal if he is elected as Prime Minister. Hancock announced this morning that “As Prime Minister I would propose to put my plan which I have already published to the House of Commons in principle immediately and therefore show the European Union that this plan is deliverable through the House of Commons.”
And who else can we expect to hear from today?🤔 *Mark Harper, Rory Stewart* and *Andrea Leadsom* are all expected to officially join the party as they launch their own leadership campaigns. *Sajid Javid* has also kicked off his own leadership bid with a video that features a barking dog, you can watch that on our live blog here: http://bit.ly/2KFlFMV
But who’s the frontrunner? *Iain Duncan Smith* has explained today that only *Boris Johnson* can address voters’ anger by repairing trust and delivering Brexit: http://bit.ly/2ZdtDAM
