#Morning Brexit Update… 25 April 19

Morning folks ☕,

*Theresa May* has survived another coup against her leadership, yet again.

Last night the executive committee of the *1922 committee* of backbench Tory MPs voted by 9-7 not to curtail the Prime Minister’s period of immunity from a challenge.🧐

However, the chairman of the committee, *Sir Graham Brady*, did warn Mrs May that MPs expect her to announce her departure date soon. This is of course not the first time that Brexiteers have made such a call, will Mrs May listen? 🤷‍♀

And what about *cross-party talks*, does anyone remember those? 🤨

There was a suggestion of urgency from Downing Street earlier in the week regarding talks with Labour, but that urgency has perhaps not come to fruition. There is still no sign of a meeting between *Jeremy Corbyn* and *Mrs May* this week and the only meeting scheduled for today is between Environment Secretary Michael Gove and Labour’s Sue Hayman.

*Nick Timothy* has explained that the Tories must now reinvent themselves as the National Party – or be eclipsed by Nigel Farage:
